I know you want more, and you don’t have the average amount of courage. But, you are someone brave enough to take your fear and do the healing anyway.

It’s kinda like… you had an awful break of bones, and those bones were not set correctly. They did not heal correctly. They are crooked, pinned together wrong, and scarred over in a way that continues to give you pain every… single… damn…. day.

You ignore this pain and numb yourself with Ibuprofen, alcohol, focus on other people, stimulate yourself constantly with TV, your phone, and other distractions, and basically just staying busy as f*ck – all day, every day.

EMDR is going to go back to that break you had and reset it and heal it correctly. Heal it in a way that pain doesn’t haunt and follow you every day. So you don’t need all the goddamn distractions. So you can finally exhale and cry with relief.

The short and sweet on what an EDMR session looks like…

Idenitify a not so fun memory, moment, and experience that you’ve gone through.

You will re-feel, re-think about, re-picture this not-so-fun moment throughout the session and…

…as you have headphones on, that are playing a tone or music, back and forth in each ear.

We do this for 40 minutes with lots of little pauses throughout to check-in.

You may cry. Sob. Feel numb. Be confused. Be angry. Be hurt. Basically go through the whole spectrum of feelings.

And then you rinse and repeat. You do this same process for a few-ish more sessions. And each session…

…get’s easier and more calm. You start to feel way lighter, more positive, forgive yourself, forgive someone else…you finally heal.

And then you’re pumped because you didn’t know you could ever feel like this. To finally feel healed. And for it to actually last.

Maybe you wanted a little more info on EMDR…

…But here is an “in a nutshell” explanation of what the heck EMDR even is: It stands for eye movement desensitization reprocessing created by Francine Shapiro in 1987 and is used for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

However, it can be used for any stuck painful emotion or memory that continues to haunt you! Its secret ingredient is bilateral (back and forth) stimulation with your eyes, hands, or ears. We will use headphones and tones in your ears. The back and forth tones in your ears, while reliving and feeling painful memories, thoughts, and events, causes those stressors to be connected with new information – positive information. It rewires your brain so you not only start to think that bad thing that happened wasn’t because you aren’t enough, but you actually feel it and believe it.

You actually start to feel and see that you have always been enough, that it wasn’t your fault, that you did enough, that you are pure and not disgusting, that you are capable and deserving, that you aren’t a terrible unlovable person, and have always been a magnet for love.

Basically, you expose yourself to the event or situation again, but this time with me as your sidekick and the EMDR process to help you finally heal and see the truth.

A typical EMDR session: You bring up a painful memory, and we use it as lighter fluid to light you up with the emotions from this memory or event. Then you take that fire you just lit, and you will start an emotional adventure going to go through memories, thoughts, and feelings that your body needs to go through while the tones are playing back and forth in your ears. We will pause every 1-2 minutes throughout the session to check-in, guide, and be a part of your journey. We do this for the entire hour, and we also make sure you are calm and grounded before the session ends using a technique you are going to love!

It’s 100% ok to feel nervous and scared about this process. If you can tap into courage and think about the bigger picture of TRULY and DEEPLY healing… that fear and nervousness will be 2000% worth it.

One of the best parts? We can do this through video sessions (as long as you live in Minnesota).

All you’ll need is headphones so that you can hear different tones in each ear throughout the session. As you listen to the tones, you will re-think and re-feel some hard moments and trauma from your life. We will frequently pause throughout the session to check-in with you and ask what you are experiencing.

You can expect those negative beliefs you have about yourself to shift, releasing you from their power and making you feel more at peace.
